what are fatecards?

Fatecards help you to ensure that someone looks you up on FatePod – it’s a bit like giving someone you like your phone number or email address but without having to actually pass on personal details.

Here’s how it works:

1. Print off the fatecards, cut them out and carry them with you.
2. Write your own unique keyword on a fatecard (you can either do this straight away or whilst you’re out).
3. If you see someone you like, simply pass them a fatecard with your keyword written on it.
4. Afterwards, upload an encounter message, putting that keyword in the keywords box.
5. That person can then find your message (and you!) by simply entering the keyword in the search box.

The best thing about fatecards is that they give you the chance to let someone know that you like them but without giving them your personal contact details or letting them know how to find you on facebook etc.  You don’t even give them your FatePod username so you can have complete privacy and they can only find you easily if you want them to!

Fatecards, together with the FatePod site, also take the ‘embarrassment factor’ out of making contact with someone.  Rather than having to approach someone you like and give them your phone number, you can simply hand them a fatecard and quickly walk off!  If they like you, they can look you up on the site and you can make contact via FatePod, leading to a meeting in person if you want it.  If they don’t (and it happens to us all!) then at least they don’t know who you are and you need never see them again, saving your blushes!

Looking at it another way, suppose you gave someone your phone number or email address and then you decided you didn’t like them but they kept contacting you – you might have to change your number or email address and all the hassle that involves.  Using the privacy of FatePod you don’t need to pass on any personal contact details and you can also block that person from making contact via our site if you want to.

Another benefit of fatecards is if you change your mind about wanting to make contact with someone after you have given them a fatecard: let’s say you see someone in a pub one night and hand them a fatecard – all that person has is details of your keyword, so if the next morning you change your mind you simply don’t upload a message encounter or that keyword; as long as you didn’t include your username on the fatecard then the other person may never know who you are – you can escape the embarrassment and hassle of potential contact and instead just focus on your hangover!

Fatecards will also help to let people know about FatePod, which will improve the experience for everyone and increase the chances of that special person looking you up!  So even if you don’t want to contact someone specifically, why not print some fatecards off and leave them at your workplace, gym, local pub etc to help spread the word about FatePod - go-on, you never know when it might help to bring that special person into your life…!
